While founding Barrels Market, our management and Advisory Board established a set of decision parameters, with feedback from consumers and suppliers, to guide our buying policy. We intentionally decided on ‘parameters’ versus ‘rules’ to remain flexible on a case-by-case basis. Our most important parameter is local, and we definite this as within 20 miles of Waterville whenever possible, and at most within the state of Maine.

We buy foods that are grown with minimal to no chemical inputs and with ecologically friendly growing methods.

Barrels market also consigns crafts and home goods that are made from local, naturally occurring, or recycled/repurposed inputs. We strive to keep goods priced affordably while also paying suppliers fairly, and accomplish this by maintaining constant dialogue with both our customers and producers
